We are seeking an innovative and experienced Plant Manager in our Maryville, Missouri location. This position will be responsible for meeting all goals related to safety, quality, customer service and cost. The Plant Manager establishes and directs all technical and administrative functions in the plant, including; manufacturing, engineering, logistics, accounting, information systems, human resources and materials management.
Summary of Duties/ Responsibilities
Create and maintain a safety-first culture to ensure that all work areas within the facility are working safely and are acting environmentally responsible.
Concisely communicate goals and expectations to employees. Provide direct and indirect reports with positive and constructive feedback about their performance while identifying developmental goals and opportunities.
Develop and implement goals, projects and financial and labor budgets to effectively provide resources to realize the vision, strategy and company objectives.
Identify, investigate and communicate identified areas of opportunity and/or improvement within the manufacturing area.
Measure levels of acceptable performance and investigates how department processes can be improved. Initiates improvements in the efficiency of department operations.
Plan, reviews and recommends process improvements, layout changes and capital purchases.
Identify and initiate corrective and preventative actions to improve productivity related to performance metrics, goals, objectives or budgets.
Plan, review and recommend staffing or rate changes. Participates in the formulation of company policies which effect plant staffing.
Work closely with marketing, quality, sales and customer service on product development and launches to ensure successful analysis and implementation for all aspects of the business.
Work to keep employees informed and engaged with company, department or specific work area goals.
SCOPE AND CHARACTER OF SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Plant Manager is the lead position at the Maryville site and must develop and maintain excellent working relationships with all plant employees. The individual will work closely with the shift and department managers and support their needs to keep operations running safely, on schedule, and achieving required yields and quality.
A Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or Industrial Engineering is required.
This position requires a minimum of 10 years of demonstrated manufacturing management experience including direct management of both production and maintenance functions. Experience in support of a 24/7 operation is required. The individual must be a self-starter, have good prioritization skills, and be able to operate in a self-directed mode to achieve results.
Experience in the following processes will be required to fulfill the requirements of the position: powder processing and material handling, milling, pelletizing, packaging, refinery/distillation operations, rubber chemistry/compounding. Pilot plant experience would be beneficial i.e. converting processes from pilot plant to full production scale.
Strong communication skills will be necessary to fulfill training requirements and to disseminate information to personnel on a 24/7 schedule.
Basic computer skills are required (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Occasional travel will be required.
Individual must have desire to live in Maryville/St. Joseph, MO area.
The manufacturing plant environment may be hot, noisy, and dirty with carbon black at times. The manufacturing operation is a chemical process. Product streams include a carbon black stream, a liquid hydrocarbon oil stream, and a hydrocarbon vapor stream. Process equipment will be installed indoors and outdoors and will be at different levels. Access to this equipment will be via stairways and/or ladders. Safety glasses with side shields, safety shoes, hearing protection, and (at times) a dust respirator will be required in the manufacturing areas.
